Iloilo police arrest rape suspect after yearlong search

ILOILO CITY — Police arrested a man accused of raping a call center agent late Saturday morning, Aug. 1, in San Rafael, Iloilo.

The 35-year-old suspect, identified by police only as alias Jenus, was arrested at a relative’s home in Barangay Poblacion.

Members of the San Rafael Municipal Police Station served an arrest warrant against the suspect for rape by carnal knowledge under Criminal Case No. 2025-12295.

Judge Ethel Demaisip Sanson of Regional Trial Court Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, issued the warrant on June 10, 2025.

The court did not recommend bail for his temporary release.

Police listed Jenus as the third-most wanted person in Iloilo province and the most wanted person in San Rafael.

Lt. Francis Carona, San Rafael police chief, said the suspect was accused of raping a 31-year-old call center agent.

The case was filed in February 2025.

Police said the suspect went into hiding after the case was filed.

Investigators recently received information that he had been returning to the home of his live-in partner.

An informant spotted the suspect on the day of the arrest and alerted police.

Jenus remained in police custody pending his turnover to the court handling the case.
