Iloilo province is exploring opportunities in the drone and advanced manufacturing sectors as it seeks to attract technology-driven investments that could diversify the local economy and create high-value jobs.
A delegation led by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. visited the KVG facility at the Berthaphil IV Airport Logistics Center in Clark Freeport, Pampanga on June 9 to gain insights into drone technology, manufacturing processes, and potential areas for industry collaboration.
The visit followed earlier discussions involving the Iloilo Provincial Government, KVG, and Ackerman Consulting on the possibility of positioning Iloilo as a strategic location for drone-related investments and technology development.
Provincial officials were briefed on KVG’s manufacturing operations, expansion plans, and technology initiatives.
The delegation also observed the company’s 3D-printing capabilities, which are increasingly being used in industrial production and product development.
A drone flight demonstration provided officials with a closer look at the technology and its potential applications across several sectors, including agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, and public services.
Discussions during the visit focused on the requirements for building a drone industry ecosystem, including manufacturing capacity, research and development, workforce readiness, and investment support.
The provincial government said the engagement forms part of its continuing efforts to identify industries that can contribute to Iloilo’s long-term economic growth while expanding employment opportunities for Ilonggos.
The visit concluded with talks on possible next steps and areas of cooperation that could help advance technology investments and innovation initiatives in the province.
