Iloilo Paddlers claim double win in Hualien international race

The Iloilo Paddlers Club made a strong international debut at the Hualien Pacific International Dragon Boat Competition in Taiwan from October 24 to 26, representing the Philippines in their first overseas race.
The team secured 1st place (Minor Final) in the 500-meter Premier Mixed Standard (DB22) and 3rd place (Minor Final) in the 200-meter Premier Mixed Standard (DB22).
“Our first international race and our first 500m battle, and what a run it was,” the team said in a social media post.
“The Iloilo Paddlers Club rose to the challenge… Facing some of the toughest teams wasn’t easy, but driven by unity and determination, Team IPAD powered through every stroke with strength and heart,” they added.
The club also expressed gratitude to sponsors, donors, and supporters who helped make their participation possible.
The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation praised all Filipino teams for strong finishes in their categories, including Bomba Pilipinas Dragonboat Team, Pyros Dragon Boat Team, CGY Oro Dragons, and Onslaught Racing Dragons Qatar.
“We celebrate the greatness of Filipino dragon boat athletes in this memorable race in Taiwan,” the federation said in a statement.
More than 3,000 paddlers from 12 countries competed in the three-day regatta, which featured an international panel of nearly 60 race officials to ensure fair and transparent results.
The Hualien Pacific International Dragon Boat Competition is one of Asia’s most anticipated dragon boat events, drawing elite paddlers from across the region.
