The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Taekwondo gym once again made waves in the national scene, taking over the 2019 National Interschool Taekwondo Championships held at Ayala Malls Bay, Pasay.
The MVP gym bagged a total of 25 medals from the Poomsae and the Kyurogi events in the first day alone of the 2-day competition.
For Poomsae, Enzo Lucio Cape got gold in individual and bronze in the team, Shanen Anica Feranco also got gold in individual, Andria Margaret Palabrica got silver in individual together with Elisha Meila Paradero, Justin Adrian Apura, Viene Marie Dulaca, and Kate Sheevanie Santocildes, while Geon Ivan Dulaca got bronze in team.
For Kyurogi, Palabrica, Samantha Gayle Go, Akimeh Demavivas, Christian Pudadera, Angela Joy Maria Bermejo, Maria Dorothea Anne Aquino, Santocildes, Niña Pearl Acosta, and Anne Francheska Cordova all bagged gold medals, while Cape got silver, and Jared Darien Bernadas, Katrina Mamaril, and Jannah Ysabel Velez all got bronze.
Neljane Wentworth Belgira, Red Dyron Lusaya, Jannah Lucelle Ledesma, and Ma. Wilmena Popelo were quarterfinalists.
In the second day of the tournament, Jhed Anthony Morata clinched gold in Kyurogi, while Mickael Wynn Cerbo, Gabriel Shernon Galupar, and Josh Karl Macahilig got silver.
Raphael Lloyd Pico had bronze, while Ronald Kyle Pico, Quinn Jimenez, and Senddrick Valencia were quarterfinalists.
During the awarding ceremony, Ateneo de Iloilo was crowned champions in the elementary girls while the St. Robert’s International Academy was the first runner up.
