The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym stole the limelight on the national stage for the second-straight time and turned heads during the 2022 SMART/MVPSF PTA National Interschool Poomsae and Kyorugi Taekwondo Championships.
After a stellar campaign during the recently concluded 45th Philippine Taekwondo Association National Championships held at the Ayala Malls, Manila Bay, the Pinggol-mentored jins didn’t show any signs of fatigue and collected a total of 20 medals during the Interschool tourney.
The Iloilo and Western Visayas representatives garnered a total of five golds, five silvers, and three bronze medals in the poomsae event.
Meanwhile, during the kyorugi category, the Iloilo MVP gym won a total of two golds, three silvers, and two bronze medals.
Gold medalists during the poomsae category were Elisha Miela Paradero, Viene Marie Dulaca, Marianne Evanne Doseo, Nathan Lee Dedal, and Phoebe Margaret.
Those who took home the poomsae silver medals were Julianna Martha Uy, Phil Caleb Regalado, Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, Ryza Chanel Tabucuran, and Amber Gale Abellar.
Meanwhile, the trio of Cyd Edryc Esmaña, Alicia Sophia Gutierrez, and Princez Elaiza Doseo completed the cast of the medalists in poomsae.
For the kyorugi category, the jins who were hailed as champions were Michael Wynn Cerbo and Adenny Lourl Rivera.
Sophia Marie Bautista, Mc Greg Alfonso, and Reyven Ken Decolongon managed to win silver while the duo of Katrina Mamaril and Eujean Ivanka Castete went home with the kyorugi bronze.
Special mentions during the poomsae event after qualifying in the top 10 were Joshua Cachero, Niesha Kariz Pequierda, and Merial An Detablan.
