These kids aren’t only excelling and notching medals in the country, but also internationally.
The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo athletes successfully represented the Ilonggos with pride and honor by dominating in the 9th Tirak Taekwondo Championships held in Thailand.
Clinching over 20 medals, the Ilonggos impressed and captured international limelight in the various categories of the event.
For the Poomsae category, Cyd Edryc Esmaña and Niesha Kariz Pequierda both got gold in individual and the mixed pair category, Ma. Wilmena Popelo and Julianna Martha Uy got gold in the individual category, Joshua Cachero got silver in individual and Gold in mixed pair, Xyrus Andrei Desierto nabbed bronze in individual and silver in mixed pair, Sophia Grace Go and Clyde Anthony Chua got bronze in both the individual and the mixed pair, Angela Joy Marie Bermejo got bronze in individual and silver in mixed pair, while Elisha Mae Paradero, Roivic John Decafe, Neljane Wentworth Belgira, and Conrad Joseph Pido all got bronze medals in the individual category, and Josh Karl Macahilig together with Sheine de Asis took home silver in the mixed pair.
For the Kyurogi results, Bermejo clinched the gold in flyweight division and the special match, Belgira got gold in the open weight category and silver during the special match, Paradero got silver in open category and gold in yellow belt category, Pido got gold in light weight and silver during the special match, while Decafe and de Asis notched gold, Uy, Cachero, and Go got silver, and Macahilig and Desierto nabbed bronze.
The Iloilo MVP Gym was crowned as overall champs in the Poomsae event and first runner-up in Kyurogi.
