The Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) was recently named the best-performing taekwondo gym during the 1st Mayor Stephen A. Palmares Pintados De Passi Taekwondo Championships last March 19, 2023.
After a series of successive championship tilts in their past joined competitions, the Pinggol-mentored jins continued to strive for greatness and dominated Passi, Iloilo in both the poomsae and kyorugi categories.
The Iloilo MVP gym displayed one of its most dominant runs in any local or national event after collecting a total of 42 medals in the poomsae category and 44 medals in the kyorugi.
In the poomsae category, 30 gold medals, eight silvers, and four bronze medals were delivered by the hardworking MVP jins while 27 golds, 10 silvers, and seven bronze medals rounded up their kyorugi campaign.
Aside from all the shining medals, the two Best Player awardees of the Pintados De Passi tourney also came from the Iloilo MVP Gym.
Sophia Maria Bautista was hailed as the Best Player in the Female Kyorugi while Phil Caleb Regalado was named as the best out there in the Male Poomsae category.
Leading the list of the poomsae winners are Adenny Lourl Rivera, Jin Saimon Saquilon, Merial Detablan, Nieka Thalia Guevara, Prince Ivan Dugayo, Nathan Lee Dedal, Amber Gale Abellar, Arvin Kirk Derayunan, and Ryza Chanel Tabucuran.
Meanwhile, Khent Wharlie Donguila, Carl Tyrone Donguila, Gabriel Batayan, Duncan Kyle Rivera, George Fredrick Allan, Brayden Paul Diamante, Lance Terrence Baylon, and Jon Xyrell Dulos topped the kyorugi category.
Honorable mentions in both categories are: Calvin Avery Valencia, Julia Hermosa Ilustre, Kylie Ellise Olivares, Portia Alison Margarico, Athena Persephone Evangelista, Aiyanna Jade Espinosa, and Shikyna Lunar.
