The Iloilo provincial government, through its Agriculture Office – Livestock Division, kicked off the Livestock and Poultry Week today, April 28.
This year’s celebration highlights sustainable innovations and success stories in animal farming, including modern swine management strategies amid the ongoing threat of African Swine Fever.
The event, which brings together farmers, industry players, and stakeholders, aims to provide practical solutions and strategies to help local producers remain resilient.
Experts in the field of animal farming will share breakthrough practices that have supported the sector’s growth despite ongoing challenges.
A highlight of the opening day is the Cooking Show, running from April 28 to 30 at SM City Iloilo.
In collaboration with the Provincial Tourism Office, the culinary showcase emphasizes local ingredients and livestock products, offering a taste of Iloilo’s farm-to-table approach and highlighting the province’s agri-food value chain.
On April 29, a series of seminars will be held in Leon, Iloilo, to empower specific sectors of the livestock industry.
Topics include:
– “Egg-cellent Farming: Advancements in Sustainable Layer Poultry Production” at Villacastin Catering Services, Barangay Anonang
– “Swine Success: Boosting Productivity and Profitability through Effective Record Keeping” at ISAT-U Leon Campus Gymnasium
– “Optimizing Cattle Production: Ensuring Sustainability and Maximizing Economic Success” at ISAT-U Leon Campus Conference Room
The seminars will provide valuable insights into enhancing productivity and adopting sustainable practices.
Attendees are expected to interact with industry experts and engage in discussions aimed at strengthening the livestock and poultry sectors.
The 2025 Livestock and Poultry Week is part of the province’s development agenda—Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive, and Resilient (MoRProGRes) Iloilo, furthering its commitment to agricultural excellence, economic sustainability, and inclusive rural development.
