The Iloilo Kisela Knights are currently on a hot-streak in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) tournament after man-handling both Toledo City Chess Miners, 16-5, and the Cebu City Machers, 19-2.
It was all Iloilo in the majority of the boards as the prized chess players representing the City of Love asserted their mastery over the best chess players in the Philippines.
Against the Chess Miners in the Blitz Category, GM Rogelio Antonio Jr., Fiona Geeweneth Guirhem, NM Cesar Mariano, NM John Michael Silvederio, and Fritz Bryan Porras scored wins for Iloilo and put them five points ahead immediately.
Things then went the Kisela Knights’ way in the Rapid category where they dominated entirely with Karl Victor Ochoa, WFM Cherry Ann Mejia, Dennis Bernas, Porras, GM Antonio Jr., and NM Silvederio grabbing wins to put them ahead and take over the series, 16-5.
The Kisela Knights then carried on the momentum against Cebu as they crushed their opponents with a large disparity.
5 points were quickly garnered by the Kisela Knights in the Blitz category as GM Antonio Jr., Guirhem, Porras, and NM Mariano won their boards to spearhead a strong start once again.
It was total domination and the exclamation point was put during the Rapid category after GM Antonio Jr., Ochoa, WFM Mejia, NM Mariano, NM Silvederio, Porras, and Bernas imposed their will to cap-off a successful day 2 campaign of the PCAP tourney.
With the win, the Kisela Knights are currently holding a 3-0 record in the PCAP tournament with huge wins over Palawan, Toledo City, and Cebu City.
