A construction worker was arrested again for alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Alias Nonoy, 45, was apprehended at his home in Zone 2, Barangay Rizal, La Paz, Iloilo City at around 2:40 a.m. on May 30.
Operatives from the Iloilo City Police Station 2 arrested the suspect after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP1,600 during a buy-bust operation.
Upon frisking, police recovered three more sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug items.
Major Tranquilino Querubin, ICPS2 chief, said the confiscated drugs weighed around 15 grams and had an estimated value of PHP102,000.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect had a prior drug-related arrest.
He was released from jail two years ago after entering a plea bargaining agreement.
Police had received reports weeks before his arrest about his renewed involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Querubin said officers conducted two weeks of surveillance before arresting Nonoy.
The suspect allegedly sourced his supply locally and distributed it in his barangay and nearby areas.
Nonoy is currently detained and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
