After months of hiatus in the world of sports, the Iloilo City Sports Development Division proposed several sporting events as a warm welcome to 2021 for all Ilonggos.
Executive Assistant for Sports Rudiver Jungco Sr. confirmed to the Daily Guardian that they are gearing up for a possible five-event sports treat for all the Ilonggos.
Tournaments in Badminton, chess, arnis, skateboarding, and Mobile Legends under Esports are the planned events that will take place on the last week of January and the first week of February.
The badminton tournament’s initial schedule will be on January 29-30 at the Arevalo gym, Chess tourney on January 30 at City Mall Parola; the inter-public arnis at the La Paz covered gym and the skateboarding tilt at the Iloilo Skatepark will also be held on the same day as the chess tourney.
Meanwhile, the Mobile Legends tournament is yet to be scheduled in February and will be under a clustered inter-barangay format.
Also, on January 29, the Sports Development Division together with various Ilonggo artists collaborated for “Ilonggo Mikropono,” an event that will showcase every Ilonggo’s skill in rapping, singing, and dancing and will be held in La Paz covered gym.
“We have this sporting events paabot sa January, mga last week. Of course, all of this is still in-line sa safety and health protocols sang aton local IATF. Padayun gihapon ang aton pag sunod sa aton SAFE sporting,” Jungco Sr. said during his interview.
