The Iloilo City government is hosting more sports events to spice up the Dinagyang 2020 festival.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas and Executive Assistant for Sports Rudiver Jungco Sr. made sure that Dinagyang will also become a venue for sports tourism from January 9-26, 2020.
The different sports for Dinagyang festival are the National lawn tennis championship (Jan 9-15), the Boxing tournament held at Brgy. Buntatala, Jaro and the Body Building Competition at Robinsons Place Iloilo (Jan 11).
The Invitational Football Tournament will be on January 17-18 at Central Philippine University (CPU), the 4×4 Off-Road Race will be from January 19-20 at Brgy. San Rafael, Mandurriao, the Invitational Futsal Championship will be held at Jaro Plaza Gym on January 23.
Also, the 50 km and 26 km Ultra Marathon is on January 24 from Molo Plaza to San Joaquin, Badminton Tournament from January 24-25 at Citi Sports Badminton Court, the National Age-Group Swimfest on January 24-25 at the CPU pool, and the Invitational Open Pencak Silat at Gaisano ICC Mall from January 24-26.
During the 25th of January, three events will be simultaneously happening, the National Invitational Taekwondo Championship, 21 km Half Marathon, and the Invitational Chess Tournament.
Meanwhile, the National E-Sports Tournament will be from January 24-25 at the Iloilo City Time Square.
