Iloilo City expects 10,000 Pfizer doses for vaccination of minors

The Iloilo City government is expecting 10,000 doses of the reformulated Pfizer vaccines by Friday, Feb 11, 2022 which will be used for the vaccination of minors aged 5 to 11 years old against COVID-19.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said in a statement on Wednesday that the city can already start the vaccination of the said age group once the vaccines arrive.

“10,000 doses of reformulated Pfizer vaccines for minors aged 5 to 11 years old will be delivered on Friday. As soon as we have the vaccines, pwede na gid kita ka umpisa pangbakuna sa aton kabataan,” he said.

The national government kicked off the vaccination of 5- to 11-year-olds in the country at the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday, Feb 7.

In Western Visayas, the Department of Health Region 6 (DOH-6) announced that the ceremonial vaccination for kids in the region will be on Feb 14.

Iloilo City has been preparing since last year for the vaccination of minors as it aims to inoculate more than 57,000 children.

The city has also identified two mega-vaccination sites for the pediatric vaccination specifically the Central Philippine University (CPU) covered gym and the Ateneo de Iloilo covered gym.

The city government opened on Feb. 3 the pre-registration for the pediatric vaccination.

Parents or guardians of minors can pre-register at the SM City Iloilo Southpoint in Mandurriao district and they can bring either the valid identification card or birth certificate of the child. (DG)
