ILOILO CITY — Security measures at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol will be heightened beginning Monday, June 15, after a reported bomb threat prompted authorities to conduct a security sweep of the government complex on the afternoon of June 14.
According to a notice posted on the official Facebook page of the Iloilo Provincial Government, personnel from the Philippine National Police Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit 6 conducted a thorough inspection of the Capitol premises following the threat.
“Security measures at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol will be heightened starting June 15 following a bomb threat received today, according to Aaron Raymundo, head of the Capitol’s Safety and Security Services,” the notice stated.
Authorities have yet to disclose how the threat was received.
Reports also indicated that security inspections were conducted at Iloilo City Hall.
Capitol officials advised the public to expect increased security protocols and to cooperate with authorities as measures are implemented to help ensure public safety.
The notice was later removed from the provincial government’s official Facebook page.
As of this writing, no additional information had been released on the reported threat or the outcome of the inspections.
Bomb threats have previously prompted security concerns in Iloilo, with local authorities seeking assistance from national agencies in 2025 after a string of threats disrupted schools and other establishments in the city.
