Data from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office showed that 1,658 senior citizens aged 85 and 95 were granted PHP 5,000 each.
Thirty-four centenarians received PHP 20,000 each in recognition of their remarkable longevity.
The total disbursed under the program amounts to more than PHP 10 million.
“This initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to honor the invaluable contributions of our senior citizens—celebrating their longevity, resilience, and lasting legacy in shaping Iloilo’s progress and development,” the PSWDO said in a statement.
Enacted in 2020, Provincial Ordinance No. 2020-216 mandates the granting of cash incentives and public recognition to qualified octogenarians, nonagenarians, and centenarians in Iloilo.
The program is facilitated by the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, headed by Rani Melvi A. Cuarte.
