The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo has approved the request of Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. to enter into a memorandum of agreement for the construction of a PHP1 million check dam in Barangay Ubang, Pototan.
During its 139th regular session on April 29, the Provincial Board authorized the governor to sign the agreement with Barangay Ubang officials.
Defensor submitted the request on March 26, seeking approval for the Ubang Check Dam Project funded under Republic Act 8435, also known as the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act.
Governor Defensor assured the swift implementation of the project to prevent delays.
The check dam aims to improve irrigation systems in the area, benefiting local farmers and increasing agricultural productivity in Pototan.
