The Iloilo Provincial School Board (PSB) has released PHP23,591,940 in financial aid for infrastructure projects in six public schools and for scouting activities in the province.
The funds, sourced from the Special Education Fund (SEF), were distributed during the provincial flag ceremony held Monday, May 26, at the Iloilo Capitol.
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., along with Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and PSB Secretariat Maria Alfreda Fajardo, led the ceremonial turnover of checks to school and Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Iloilo Chapter representatives.
The largest allocation went to Fernando Arlos Elementary School in Barangay Tambaliza, Concepcion, which received PHP8.8 million for the construction of a one-unit, three-classroom building.
Sto. Niño Elementary School in San Miguel was granted PHP3.5 million for a covered gymnasium, while Bancal National High School in Alimodian received PHP3.4 million for a similar facility.
Tunga Elementary School in Barangay Cabilao Grande, Carles, was allotted PHP5 million to build a two-classroom school building.
Binaba-an National High School in Lambunao received PHP1,597,800 for the purchase of a school lot.
Aglalaha Integrated School in Passi City was granted PHP294,150 for the construction and improvement of its Gulayan sa Paaralan project.
Meanwhile, the BSP received PHP1 million to support its scouting activities in the province.
After the check distribution, the PSB conducted an orientation for recipients to guide them on fund management and liquidation procedures.
Upgrading educational infrastructure remains a core priority under the province’s Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES Probins) program.
Through the PSB, the Iloilo provincial government continues to invest in classrooms and learning spaces, especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
