One of the most prominent taekwondo gyms in Western Visayas managed to attract several students from abroad.
The Iloilo Alan Diasnes taekwondo gym caught international attention after Angelie Marie Perillo, one of their mentored jins, recently turned heads during the first Online Daedo Open European Poomsae Championships by ranking 39th overall.
After Perillo’s stellar run in the tournament, several international-based students showed interest in training with A. Diasnes gym.
Currently, six Filipinos based abroad, specifically in New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and Singapore are training under the helm of the Diasnes gym and are the newest members of the A-team.
Three black-belt siblings from New Zealand, one black-belt from Saudi, and white-belters from Singapore and Australia are currently training under the gym.
“I would like to thank the entire A. Diasnes Gym Taekwondo family that despite the pandemic they never quit training Taekwondo and they helped us attract new and old students to engage in the sport, thru their social media posts we are able to reach other parts of the world and made an awareness that they can join Taekwondo thru online training,” said Flora Navales, one of Diasnes gym’s decorated coaches during an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
