ZARRAGA, Iloilo – A 41-year-old motorcycle driver died after his vehicle collided with a road sign late on June 30 in Zarraga, Iloilo.
Reymundo Gardose, a resident of Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz, Iloilo City, succumbed to head injuries. He was rushed to Iloilo Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
While Reymundo did not survive, his wife, 45-year-old Lanie, survived the incident.
Reports said the couple was navigating Barangay Dawis Norte, Zarraga, on their way to Iloilo City when they crashed into a road sign at an under-construction road.
Captain Zharra dela Rosa, Zarraga police chief, said the couple was thrown from their vehicle.
Both victims were wearing helmets; however, Reymundo suffered a fatal wound after his helmet came off.
Dela Rosa noted that the sign lacked proper reflectors and the area was poorly lit.
