The Houston Rockets finally saw enough and grabbed their first win of the ongoing NBA regular season after annihilating the Brooklyn Nets, 137–109, on Oct. 28, 2025.
Fresh off back-to-back tightly contested losses against the Detroit Pistons and the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Rockets vented their ire on the Nets, pulling off a decisive wire-to-wire win to end their skid.
Houston immediately blew the game wide open from the get-go, building a commanding 17-point first-quarter lead, 42–25, led by a balanced attack spearheaded by Alperen Sengun, Kevin Durant, and Tari Eason.
The trio shot the lights out in the first 12 minutes of action and went unconscious from the perimeter, taking ill-advised three-pointers that successfully capped off a sequence of wild heat checks.
Just like they say—feed whoever’s hot.
And that’s what Amen Thompson did as he located his peers, who just let it fly from the parking lot, swishing every hoop that sucked the life out of Brooklyn entering the second frame.
Brooklyn bounced back after finding some offensive lift from Day’Ron Sharpe to trim the deficit to just 11 points, but a demoralizing Houston counter rally in the third ballooned their lead to as much as 33 points, making life more miserable for the Nets, who tallied their lowest-scoring quarter in the third period with only 17 points.
With the insurmountable lead, Brooklyn decided to rest its starters with seven minutes still remaining, resulting in a dismal 0–4 start to their 2025–2026 NBA season.
On the other hand, the Rockets breathed a sigh of relief after finally entering the NBA win column, led by Eason, who came off the bench with 22 big points built from an efficient 8-of-13 shooting from the field.
Sengun added an all-around effort of 21 markers, six rebounds, and six assists, while Durant finished with 19 points in just 24 minutes alongside six boards and three dimes.
Thompson, who shifted into a full-time point guard following Fred VanVleet’s injury, chipped in 12 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and a steal.
Houston will aim for its first winning streak on Oct. 30 when it travels to Toronto and squares off with the Raptors, while the Nets look for a breakthrough dub on the same date against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks.
