The veteran Guimaras Leopards squad contained the young and high-leaping Asialink/E&C Trucking team, 112-106, in the Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Dinagyang Basketball Cup.
The game went on a scoring clinic as both teams traded fast break points with players surging from court to court for easy deuces.
Former Sta. Clarita superstar Ryan Calamaan torched Guimaras with his shooting ability that paced his team against the veteran Guimaras Leopards.
However, Guimaras’ Misael Poral proved to be too much underneath as he schooled the young frontcourt of the opposing team with his basic and fundamental post moves.
When Guimaras thought they would pull away with the game, Asialink had other plans by pushing the tempo faster that notched the lead back from the Leopards with 2:45 left in the final frame.
After Guimaras called timeout, star Jefrey Espinosa took over as he scored on isolation plays that helped them get back the lead.
Asialink then committed a couple of turnovers that Guimaras capitalized on to help them seal the win.
