Private sector construction projects in Guimaras in 2019 increased by 16.8 percent against projects in 2018.
Preliminary results of construction statistics generated from building permits indicated that 181 projects were initiated in 2019 compared to 155 in 2018 due to increases in both residential and non-residential constructions.
Residential constructions, which accounted for 49.17 percent of the provincial total, recorded a 28.99 percent improvement, from 69 structures in 2018 to 89 in 2019.
The same trend was noticed in non-residential constructions which grew by 18.92 percent, from 74 buildings in 2018 to 88 constructions in 2019.
The remaining 2.81 percent were from alteration and repair, which decreased by 60 percent from 10 structures in 2018 to 4 in 2019.
The total constructions valued at PhP728.58 million was more than three times higher than the value of constructions in 2018 at PhP239.08 million, or a 204.75 percent growth.
Residential building constructions accounted for 33.04 percent of the 2019 provincial total construction valued at PhP78.94 million, a 0.07 percent decrease from the PhP78.99 million recorded in 2018.
Non-residential constructions value recorded at PhP640.41 million significantly increased by 314.43 percent from PhP154.53 million in 2018.

Majority of the residential constructions were single-type houses which accounted the bulk at 97.75 percent in 2019, while construction of Apartment/ Accessories and Duplex/Quadruplex posted the least share of 2.90 percent in 2018 and 1.12 percent in 2019.
Combined construction value of alteration and repair at PhP9.23 million rose by 122.51 percent, from the PhP4.15 million construction value recorded in 2018.
The common construction among the non-residential in the year 2019 was the commercial buildings which accounted at 60.23 percent; industrial construction shared 23.86 percent and the other non-residential constructions contributed the least at 2.27 percent.
