Five Municipal Civil Registrars (MCR) staff of Guimaras Province again competed in the Provincial Quiz Bee spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras, Provincial Statistical Office on Feb 3, 2020.
The quiz was part of the opening program of the Civil Registration Month held at the Municipal Hall of San Lorenzo.
“For the second time, the Municipality of Jordan represented by Michael C. Esprago defeated the other four MCRs staff while the second place was taken by the Municipality of Buenavista in the person of Sherel F. Labaro and Mary Grace C. Apepe of San Lorenzo landed in third place,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
The top 3 winners were given certificate of recognition with corresponding cash prizes while the other two participants received certificate of participation and consolation prizes.
“This year’s Quiz Bee competition had a twist, questions were not limited to civil registration matters alone but it also contains a little of statistics, gender related issues and concerns and current events,” Losare said.
The quiz contest aimed to test the level of awareness and readiness of the MCRO staff in answering queries of clients regarding civil registry documents processes, test their knowledge on statistics and awareness of the official data of their municipality, check their awareness on gender issues and concerns as well as on current events.
San Lorenzo Mayor Ninfa Gajo supported the event and gave a warm welcome message to everyone emphasizing the importance of civil registration in the growth of society, and acknowledging the efforts of all MCRs and the PSA who genuinely prepared/conducted the event.
