The Philippine Statistics Authority–Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office recorded 3,883 new registrants under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) during the first semester of 2025, surpassing its target of 3,495 and achieving 111% of its registration goal.
This accomplishment highlights PSA-Guimaras’ commitment to expanding identity coverage through fixed-site operations and mobile registration drives in barangays.
As of June 30, 2025, a total of 162,878 individuals in Guimaras have completed PhilSys Step 2 registration, representing 86.71% of the province’s population based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing, which recorded 187,842 residents.
Of those registered, 162,863 have been assigned their unique PhilSys Numbers (PSNs).
The PSN is a permanent, randomly generated number that serves as an individual’s official and secure identity for both government and private sector transactions.
The slight gap between total registrants and PSN assignments is due to the validation process.
While registration collects demographic and biometric data, PSNs are issued only after thorough deduplication and verification to ensure that each registrant has a unique and secure identity.
This process is essential to maintaining the integrity of the national ID system.
Chief Statistical Specialist Nelida B. Losare of PSA-Guimaras emphasized that each PSN is issued only after confirming that no duplicate records exist.
“To avoid double registration and ensure data integrity, we use the FindMyTRN tool during registration to verify if an individual is already registered,” she said.
“This strengthens the security and reliability of our national database.”
To further boost coverage, PSA-Guimaras launched mobile registration activities in July.
As of July 22, registrations have been conducted in the following barangays:
- Hoskyn, Jordan – July 15
- Igdarapdap, Nueva Valencia – July 16
- Concordia Sur, Nueva Valencia – July 17
- Balcon Melliza, Jordan – July 22
Upcoming mobile registration activities are scheduled as follows:
- San Roque, Nueva Valencia – July 23
- Balcon Maravilla, Jordan – July 24
- Lucmayan, Nueva Valencia – July 25
- Morobuan, Jordan – July 29
- Espinosa, Jordan – July 31
Losare added that in Nueva Valencia, the mobile PhilSys team is working with the Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) to implement the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP).
This initiative ensures that unregistered children and individuals can obtain both civil registry documents and their PhilSys ID through a one-stop service.
“Through these integrated efforts, PSA-Guimaras aims to strengthen identity management, improve access to government services, and promote inclusive development,” Losare said.
“Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming registration activities and take part in building a more connected and digitally empowered nation,” she added.
