GREG SMITH, a former NBA veteran and the old import of the Blackwater Elite, is set to replace injured Staphon Blair in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
With the playoffs nearing and Blackwater already sealing the third spot, Smith’s arrival is just in time for their preparations and practices.
Smith had stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Houston Rockets and was Blackwater’s import in 2017.
Blair, who hurt his knee against TNT Katropa, won’t be in perfect shape entering the playoffs prompting the management to tap the services of Smith.
Team official Patrick Aquino said that Blair’s injury is “nothing serious.”
Smith averaged 26.5 points, 16 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game during his stint as Elite’s import.
