A Grade 7 student died after being electrocuted on the morning of June 8 in Leon, Iloilo.
The victim, identified as Ging, 13, of Barangay Tacuyong Norte, Leon, was rushed to Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian town but died an hour later.
Reports said Ging was with her grandmother, 59-year-old Lina, when the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday in Tacuyong Norte.
Lina sustained injuries but survived the incident.
According to police, the two were walking from their old residence to their new farmhouse, about 50 meters from the barangay plaza, when they were electrocuted.
Lina accidentally touched a low-hanging live wire and was immediately shocked.
Ging tried to help her grandmother and was also electrocuted.
Lina reportedly lost consciousness but later recovered and called for help from bystanders at the barangay plaza.
Ging was declared dead at the hospital at 9:50 a.m.
Local police are still investigating the incident.
