The Golden State Warriors overcame Aaron Gordon’s career-high 50 points, edging Denver in a back-and-forth OT thriller win, 137-131, in the ongoing NBA regular season on Oct. 24, 2025.
Down by 14 points midway through the second quarter, the Warriors found no solutions in stopping the waxing-hot Gordon, who was making every three-point attempt he hoisted from downtown.
However, Golden State dug deep in the third as they outscored the Nuggets, 33-24, behind Stephen Curry’s offensive resurgence, who entered a mano-a-mano duel with Gordon.
The game shifted into a game of runs as the Nuggets looked poised with only 3:50 remaining, after Nikola Jokic buried a floater for a seven-point lead, 116-109.
Golden State didn’t shy away and wasn’t reluctant to let their fans down, led by Curry who scored eight consecutive points to help the Warriors equalize the affair at 117-all.
Gordon nearly played spoiler after hitting a clutch three-pointer that put Denver back up by three points, 120-117, setting up a high-tension drama ending when Golden State head coach Steve Kerr immediately called a timeout to map out one final play.
Shades of the Paris Olympics began to cloud Denver as Curry countered Gordon’s shot with his own trifecta for another deadlock at 120-all.
The Nuggets still had 21 seconds left to execute a clean shot, but Jokic’s floater was greatly contested by Draymond Green, resulting in overtime.
The Nuggets struck first in the extra period as they held a narrow two-point lead, 125-123, but Golden State came up with other plans, blitzing their Western Conference foes with the game-sealing 10-2 run to build a 133-127 lead.
Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Al Horford took care of business during Golden State’s “two minutes of madness,” knocking down huge three-pointers that put Denver away for good.
Spearheading Golden State’s come-from-behind OT win was Curry, who exploded for 42 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals.
Curry wrapped up the intense win with an efficient shooting display from the rainbow country, 6-of-12, while also making a perfect trip from the free-throw line, 8-of-8.
Meanwhile, the trio of Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, and Horford chipped in 21, 14, and 13 points, respectively.
On the other hand, Gordon’s 50 points weren’t enough to slow down Golden State, highlighted by 10 made three-pointers, eight boards, two dimes, and a block.
