The Golden State Warriors added to the Minnesota Timberwolves’ woes after pulling off a demolition exhibition, 111-85, during their Western Conference clash in the ongoing NBA regular season on Jan. 26, 2026.
Despite playing in front of a raucous Target Center crowd hoping for the home team to snap its losing skid, Golden State came with cruel intentions and spoiled the night for the 18,978 fans who flocked to Minneapolis.
During the whole 48-minute showdown, the Timberwolves led only once, receiving an offensive avalanche from the duo of Stephen Curry and Moses Moody, who took turns scoring the leather.
Moody was off to an excellent start for Golden State, having already hit three treys in the first half, which set the tone for the team’s early five-point lead.
The Timberwolves answered back after snatching the second quarter behind Anthony Edwards’ scoring eruption, but Curry had other plans when the third frame kicked off.
A frenetic sequence of events stunned Minnesota during the fast-paced third quarter as Curry waxed hot right from the opening buzzer when the second half started.
After a couple of three-pointers and pick-and-pop plays with Al Horford, Golden State suddenly raced to an 11-0 run, forcing Minnesota head coach Chris Finch to call back-to-back emergency timeouts in hopes of restoring order.
However, no words of encouragement or inspirational quotes from Edwards helped slow down the surging Warriors as they dissected the Timberwolves on both ends of the floor, with Kerr deploying a 1-3-1 zone defense that caught Minnesota off guard.
Due to the defensive adjustment, Finch’s pin-down plays for Edwards were all neutralized, as were their curl plays for Donte DiVincenzo, who was having an efficient night shooting the ball from downtown.
Golden State sent the early exclamation point inside the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter after mounting its biggest lead—26 points. The Timberwolves never trimmed their deficit to single digits and could only watch Curry sink another trifecta before getting subbed out with six minutes still remaining in the game.
Curry never lost a step, following up his 38-point outing against Dallas with 26 markers built from three treys, alongside seven assists, four steals, and two rebounds.
The Warriors also received a much-needed offensive resurgence from Moody, delivering an all-around effort of 19 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
On the other hand, the Timberwolves racked up their fifth consecutive loss and have yet to re-enter the NBA win column since their 139-106 victory over Milwaukee on Jan. 14, 2026.
