Gilas Pilipinas Women’s head coach Patrick Aquino can finally call his holiday work successful.
After flying to the United States to spend his holidays scouting Filipino-American hoopers to boost the Gilas Women’s squad, the amiable orchestrator was delighted with the bright future for his squad.
Spending several months attending major events hosted by Alex Cabagnot’s Fil-Am Nation, Aquino found young and talented players who can provide the much-needed artillery the current roster of the Gilas Women’s lack.
“I’m so happy that a lot of Fil-Am players want to showcase their talents to represent the country,” Aquino shared.
During the two-day Fil-Am Nation Building the Bridge event, Aquino was able to handle and see potential Filipina superstars who can also suit up for the Gilas Women’s in the future. When asked if there were any standouts during the camp, he said, “Vanessa De Jesus from Duke, Amaya Bonner, Mai Loni Henson, the Molina sisters.
Aquino confirmed that he will stay for another month in the US and will hold another tryout event for the Gilas Women’s to be held in Chantilly, Virginia.
“We are looking for talents that can help us in our campaign for international competitions. We love to have any talents that are willing to help us to level up more,” Aquino added.
