The Gilas Pilipinas men’s basketball team is in for a tough 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers February window.
Despite gaining home court advantage in Clark, Pampanga, where the window will be held, a familiar foe will be standing in their way and will try to rust their 3-0 record in FIBA’s Pool A.
Long-time rivals Korea will be facing the Philippines twice in the Pampanga bubble and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) are gearing for one of the toughest windows in their road for FIBA success.
With no definite lineup yet for the 2021 FIBA qualifiers, SBP program director Tab Baldwin is already hoping that they can have the veteran and reliable PBA players especially against a tough Korean squad.
“We are planning and obviously we have to talk to all of our partners who are involved in the basketball landscape. The PBA, the SBP, our bosses, and all of the college teams, too. But until all the bosses can sit down, we don’t know,” said Baldwin.
Gilas is scheduled to face Korea on the 18th and 22nd of February in Clark.
