GCash Parent Mynt makes PSE debut, bringing digital finance to forefront

MANILA — The parent company of GCash, Mynt, officially debuted on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Tuesday, October 20, marking a major milestone for Philippine digital finance and opening new investment opportunities for Filipinos.
Trading under the ticker symbol GCASH, Mynt opened at PHP6.60 per share, giving the fintech company an initial market capitalization of approximately PHP442 billion.
The company’s initial public offering (IPO) raised approximately PHP53 billion through the sale of 8.03 billion firm shares at PHP6.60 each. If the overallotment option covering an additional 1.20 billion secondary shares is fully exercised, the total offering could reach approximately PHP60.9 billion, potentially making it the largest IPO in Philippine history.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. joined business leaders and capital market officials at the ceremonial opening bell, including Ayala Corporation Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Corporation President and CEO Cezar Consing, Mynt Chairman Ernest Cu, Mynt President and CEO Martha Sazon, and PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon.
From Digital Wallet to Public Investment Opportunity
Mynt’s stock market debut marks a significant transition for the company, moving from privately held ownership to public trading and allowing investors to participate in the growth of the business behind one of the Philippines’ most widely used financial applications.
For ordinary Filipinos, the offering also highlights the growing connection between digital financial services and investment opportunities.
Through GStocks PH, the stock-trading platform operated by AB Capital Securities within the GCash application, more than 140,000 users participated in the IPO, generating nearly PHP1.1 billion in order value.
The participation demonstrates how digital platforms can help make stock market investing more accessible, particularly to individuals who may already be familiar with digital wallets but are taking their first steps into equity investing.
Investors could place orders for a minimum of 100 shares, equivalent to PHP660 at the offer price. Beginning on the third day of the offer period, individual orders through the platform were capped at 1,500 shares per user, according to the company.
Mynt also reported that most retail participants had been GCash users for more than two years, highlighting how familiarity with digital financial services can create a pathway toward broader participation in the capital market.
Strong Investor Demand Signals Confidence in Mynt’s Growth
The IPO attracted substantial interest from domestic and international investors, with the institutional tranche oversubscribed several times during bookbuilding. The tranche allocated to Philippine trading participants also exceeded its available allocation in terms of peso value.
Employee participation was another notable feature of the offering, with approximately 80% of Mynt’s workforce becoming shareholders as of the IPO date.
The strong demand underscores investor interest in the company’s business model and its position within the Philippines’ expanding digital financial services sector. However, the company’s performance as a publicly traded firm will ultimately depend on its ability to sustain growth, maintain profitability, and deliver long-term value to shareholders.
Speaking at the listing, Mynt President and CEO Martha Sazon described the occasion as a defining milestone for the company and the beginning of its next chapter as a public enterprise.
She said Mynt had built GCash into a scaled and profitable business by addressing the everyday financial needs of Filipinos. The company plans to deepen engagement across its digital ecosystem, invest in technology-driven growth, and generate sustainable shareholder value.
Mynt Chairman Ernest Cu also highlighted GCash’s evolution over 22 years, from an SMS-based mobile money transfer service into a major digital financial platform.
He emphasized that the listing demonstrates the potential of Philippine technology companies to achieve significant scale while underscoring the importance of corporate governance, disciplined execution, and long-term strategy.
IPO Proceeds to Fuel Digital Financial Services
Beyond its stock market debut, Mynt intends to use the IPO’s net proceeds primarily to expand its Digital Financial Services business, particularly its CreditTech and WealthTech offerings.
The planned investments are expected to support the company’s efforts to expand access to credit, strengthen digital wealth services, and deepen GCash’s role in Filipinos’ everyday financial activities.
These priorities align with Mynt’s broader vision of “Finance for All,” as digital platforms continue to transform how Filipinos make payments, transfer money, access credit, save, and invest.
For the Philippine capital market, Mynt’s listing represents a significant example of a homegrown technology company accessing public equity financing on a substantial scale.
The offering also highlights the potential role of digital financial platforms in bringing more Filipinos into the investment ecosystem, connecting everyday financial transactions with opportunities to participate in corporate growth.
A New Chapter for Philippine Digital Finance
With its PSE debut, Mynt enters a new phase in which its performance will be assessed not only through the reach of its digital financial ecosystem but also through its financial results, governance, and ability to create sustainable shareholder value.
The company’s challenge now is to translate its established market presence and strong IPO demand into continued business growth while maintaining the trust of customers, employees, and investors.
As one of the country’s major homegrown fintech companies enters the public market, Mynt’s journey could also offer an important benchmark for other Philippine technology businesses seeking to scale through public investment.
Its long-term success will depend on how effectively it converts its digital reach into sustainable growth—and whether the promise of more accessible digital finance can translate into lasting value for both Filipinos and the Philippine economy. (Advertorial)
