BACOLOD CITY — Four people, including two minors, were injured after an allegedly speeding pickup truck collided with a tricycle before crashing into several motorcycles and a house in Purok San Jose 1, Barangay Sum-ag, on Sunday.
Police identified one of the injured victims as Robert, 49, a resident of the village.
Maj. Elmer Bonilla, head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit, said the 18-year-old driver told police that she had dozed off before the crash.
Closed-circuit television footage circulating online showed the pickup hitting a tricycle it was following before crashing into at least eight motorcycles parked along the roadside.
The vehicle then struck a house with a store owned by Jocelyn, 58.
Bonilla said the pickup driver, a resident of Barangay Pahanocoy, was also injured.
She and the three occupants of the tricycle were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police could not immediately confirm whether the driver was intoxicated when the crash occurred at about 4:30 a.m.
Bonilla said investigators were verifying reports that additional motorcycle owners and a car owner also sustained property damage in the incident.
He added that the owners of the damaged properties initially expressed their intention to reach a settlement with the pickup driver.
