Five persons were arrested in Zarraga, Iloilo for allegedly violating the liquor ban ordinance.
The suspects, Zaldy Cabarobles, Dean Daniel Victor Pongan, Cedric Aliman, Chin Mark Servidad, and Tomacito Parreñas, were caught inside a house that was partly turned into a drinking hole and online sabong (cockfight) betting area.
Members of Zarraga Police Station led by Major Aldren Lamera conducted the operation to enforce Provincial Ordinance No. 002-B (An order extending the effectivity of Liquor Ban under Executive Order No. 002, series of 2022).
The house is located at Poblacion Ilauod, Zarraga and was owned by Rizal Moleje.
It sits beside the back portion of the Zarraga Public Market.
“It’s double purpose. While it’s a house, it has business permit to operate commercially,” Lamera said.
When informed of their offense, Parreñas and Cabarobles allegedly resisted but they were immediately subdued.
The suspects are in police custody.
