The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) recently told the Philippine volleyball to form a National Sports Association (NSA) that can unite volleyball in the country.
It came after the FIVB requested the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) to create a legitimate NSA volleyball group that will oversee the sport in the country.
After months of deliberation, big names in the sport united to spearhead the organization, Sports Vision Management group president Ricky Palou, Asian Volleyball Confederation development and marketing official Tats Suzara, Beach Volleyball Republic founder Charo Soriano, and Premier Volleyball League (PVL) commissioner Tony Boy Liao.
A special election will be conducted to formally create the accredited NSA of volleyball and all stakeholders should also be there namely LVPI president Joey Romasanta, PVF president Boy Cantada, Spiker’s Turf president Alyssa Valdez, and PSL president Ian Laurel.
Palou, also the former secretary-general of the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, shared that it’s time for this NSA to be formed and led by a young and willing individual.
“We’ll see what happens. I’m willing to be a board member but we should give it to the young ones. They have their own ideas and we’ll just be the ones to guide them,” Palou said.
