Fishpond operator nabbed in Capiz drug sting

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A fishpond operator classified by police as a high-value individual was arrested Saturday afternoon, Oct. 10, in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Tanza Sur, Panay, Capiz.
Lt. Col. Syril Punzalan, chief of the Panay Municipal Police Station, identified the suspect as alias Niño, 31, a fishpond operator and resident of Barangay Tabuc, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police said the suspect was placed on the provincial priority target list on July 9, 2026.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Capiz Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit and the Panay Municipal Police Station.
Authorities recovered one sachet of suspected shabu that served as the buy-bust item and three additional sachets of suspected shabu.
Police also recovered PHP 1,100 in buy-bust money, consisting of PHP 1,000 in boodle money and a PHP 100 bill, along with several nondrug items.
The suspected illegal drugs weighed 9.99 grams and had an estimated standard drug price of PHP 67,932.
The suspect remains in the custody of the Panay Municipal Police Station.
Police said charges for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against him Monday, Oct. 12.
