The Philippine women’s national futsal team, known as the Filipina5, is holding a two-week training camp in Spain from October 29 to November 11, 2025, as final preparation for the 2025 FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup (FFWWC).
The training camp in Barcelona and Madrid is part of the team’s build-up to the country’s historic hosting of the inaugural FFWWC, which kicks off on November 21 in Pasig City.
Organized by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), the camp is designed to elevate the team’s technical, tactical, and mental readiness by exposing players to elite-level futsal environments.
The Filipina5 will play four friendlies during the camp, facing Spanish clubs AE Les Corts (November 2), FS Sabadell (November 5), Esportiu Rubi (November 6), and the Spain women’s national futsal team (November 8).
PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez described the Spain camp as “a transformative opportunity for the players and for Philippine futsal as a whole.”
“This camp is the perfect stage for our team to grow stronger—technically, tactically, and mentally,” Gutierrez said.
“By training and playing against some of the best clubs and national teams in Europe, our players will gain the confidence and experience they need to perform fearlessly when the World Cup begins on home soil,” he added.
The FFWWC will be held at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, marking the Philippines’ first time hosting a FIFA World Cup event.
Gutierrez emphasized that hosting the tournament is a chance to inspire a new generation of athletes and elevate futsal’s profile nationwide.
“Hosting the World Cup is about pride, passion, and creating heroes that young Filipinos can look up to,” he said.
The Spain camp also supports the PFF’s long-term futsal development roadmap, which aims to grow the sport and establish a sustainable women’s national team structure.
Throughout the camp, the Filipina5 will undergo daily tactical sessions, strength training, and video analysis, simulating the demands of top-tier international play.
Gutierrez noted that lessons from Spain will serve not only the current team, but also future generations of Filipino futsal players.
“What the Filipina5 learn in Spain, they will bring home and share with the next generation of players,” he affirmed.
“Our Filipina5 are working tirelessly to represent the flag with honor,” he said.
“We are calling on every Filipino fan to rally behind them. Let’s fill the arenas in Pasig, let’s make them feel that this is our home, our pride, our moment.”
