A Filipina will be looking to embrace the spotlight in the upcoming National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball women’s category.
Highly-touted recruit Vanessa De Jesus will be taking her talents to US college powerhouse Duke University and is nothing but excited for the opportunity given to her.
Duke’s coaching staff didn’t think twice to acquire the prized Filipina baller after being named as an All-CIF Open Division 1st team, the Gold Coast League MVP, and an All-CIF Southern Section Co-Player of the Year in 2019.
After arriving at Duke last August, Vanessa has been busy working with legendary coach Kara Lawson and the rest of the Blue Devils women squad in preparation for the next NCAA season.
When asked about the chances of playing for the Philippine Women’s Basketball National team, De Jesus did not hesitate to confirm her availability.
“I’m interested in playing for the Philippines knowing just how big basketball is there. I’m very excited about that,” said the basketball phenom.
