Filipina teen sensation Vanessa De Jesus did not let the Duke Blue Devils down with another stellar shooting night during their dominant 83-56 win over Western Carolina.
The Filipina sniper showed flashes of steadiness and mature shot selection after firing 17 huge points and shooting a perfect 3-of-3 from downtown.
De Jesus started the game off to a blistering start after making her first six attempts.
“V is like a veteran even though she’s just a freshman. You can see it when you watch her. She’s very composed, doesn’t get rattled, understands the game at a high level, knows how to make reads, and understands how to get people involved,” said Duke’s head coach Kara Larson.
In the first quarter, the Blue Devils immediately ran over Western Carolina after a hot-handed De Jesus unleashed 8 quick points and never let the opposition get back into the game.
The convincing victory helped the Blue Devils start their season with a clean 2-0 record and will look to stay perfect in their quest for another championship.
