FedEx has introduced a new digital solution designed to simplify import processes and support Philippine businesses amid rising cross-border trade demand.
The FedEx Import Tool is an automated, single-window platform that streamlines tasks such as customs documentation, regulatory compliance, and shipment tracking for importers.
Currently available in Australia, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, the tool is being rolled out to the Philippines as part of FedEx’s commitment to enhancing regional trade efficiency.
FedEx confirmed that the tool will soon be introduced in other Asia-Pacific markets including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and New Zealand.
“The launch of the FedEx Import Tool marks a significant step in empowering Filipino SMEs,” said Maribeth Espinosa, managing director of FedEx Philippines.
“By simplifying and accelerating the import process, we enable them to navigate the complexities of cross-border logistics, allowing our local entrepreneurs to focus on scaling up, meeting international demand, and building brands that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s best,” she added.
The announcement follows a continued increase in Philippine import activity.
From January to April 2025, the country’s imports reached $42.78 billion, a 5.6% rise compared to $40.53 billion during the same period in 2024, according to official trade data.
At an exchange rate of PHP56.50 to $1, this marks an increase from PHP2.29 trillion to PHP2.41 trillion in four months.
The FedEx Import Tool includes several features designed for convenience and efficiency.
These include a unified self-service platform for managing documents and tracking shipments, a dashboard for shipment visibility, proactive notifications to expedite customs clearance, and 24/7 shipment monitoring up to 90 days after pickup.
FedEx has also developed other digital tools to support small businesses, including FedEx Ship Manager™, which allows merchants to manage shipments online.
Customers can also use FedEx Electronic Trade Documents to digitally submit cross-border shipping paperwork, reducing the need for physical documentation.
In a bid to make delivery more predictable, the company is leveraging machine learning to provide a four-hour estimated delivery window for incoming shipments.
FedEx says these tools reflect its broader mission to make global supply chains smarter and more adaptive through innovation.
