BACOLOD CITY — A 57-year-old man allegedly stabbed to death his 61-year-old uncle and 35-year-old second cousin following a personal grudge in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, on Oct. 1.
Police identified the victims as alias “Romolo,” a farmer, and his son, alias “Arnel,” both residents of Barangay Camindangan.
Lt. Col. Robelito Mariano, chief of the Sipalay City Police Station, said the victims were at home when the suspect, identified as alias “Efren,” suddenly entered the house armed with a knife and allegedly attacked his uncle.
Romolo’s son tried to pacify the suspect but was also allegedly stabbed, Mariano said.
The older victim died from a stab wound to the chest, while his son sustained abdominal injuries and was declared dead at a hospital.
Police arrested the suspect and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack.
Mariano said the suspect was reportedly intoxicated when the incident happened.
The suspect allegedly told police that his uncle had maltreated him when he was younger, which caused him to harbor a grudge against the victim.
Mariano said it was the first time the suspect had become violent while intoxicated.
Two counts of murder were filed against the suspect on Oct. 2, Mariano said.
