A father and his son died after their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck late evening of May 8 in Janiuay, Iloilo.
Allen, 44, and his 16-year-old son, both residents of Barangay Dabong, Janiuay, were declared dead on arrival at the Roman Tirador Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay.
According to police reports, the two were traversing Barangay Matag-ob when the crash occurred.
Captain Hector Ayagan, Janiuay police chief, said the father and son were speeding as they overtook another motorcycle.
They encroached on the opposite lane and failed to return to their proper lane.
The motorcycle collided head-on with a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by 48-year-old Nominar of Barangay Bagongbong, Lambunao.
Ayagan said both victims sustained fatal head injuries as neither was wearing a crash helmet.
The pickup truck driver was taken into police custody but was later released after reaching a settlement with the victims’ family.
