BACOLOD City – Local rock band, Fata Morgana, clinches the championship trophy in the VMC Battle of the Bands Year 3 as part of the 6th Kalamayan Festival events in Victorias City, Tuesday.
Fata Morgana bested four other finalists from among 20 entries to bring home P30,000 in cash. Other winners were Mighty Hilamoon that came in second with a cash prize of P20,000 and Symphony in third place winning P10,000.
The judges – Bing Motus, Angelica Prado and Beethoven Tiano declared Fata Morgana winners in their seamless performance of “Kabataan Para sa Kinabukasan,” “Anak,” and their original composition “Embrace the Light.”
Fata Morgana members are vocalist Jay Jolito, Ryan Ledesma and Jeshan Suguran on guitars, Renz Andrada on bass and Gil Caponong on drums.
Performances were also rendered by last year’s winners “The Rockroad Band,” breakdancing group “Critical Breakdown” which included SEA Games silver medallist, Debbie Mahinay, comedian Mariposa and Prado and Tiano.
VMC President Minnie Chua and Corporate Communications Director, Anne Tiongco graced the event that was hosted by John Arceo.
