An altercation over a bottle of liquor led to a shooting incident that killed a 32-year-old farmer in Igbaras, Iloilo on Feb 13, 2022.
The victim was identified as Nick Efondo, a resident of Barangay Tigbanaba, a hinterland village in Igbaras, Iloilo.
The suspect, Jojie Escabillas, 38, also a resident of the said place, fled after the incident.
Reports indicated that Efondo and Escabillas are godbrothers (mag-su-on).
They were on a drinking spree with some other friends when the incident happened.
Pasion said Efondo and Escabillas had a disagreement until it turned into a heated argument.
At the height of their verbal tussle, the suspect pulled a homemade pistol-type 12-gauge shotgun and shot Efondo.
Relatives took Efondo onboard a motorcycle to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
He was subsequently taken to Rep. Pedro Trono Memorial District Hospital in Guimbal town but was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect, on the other hand, fled after the incident and remains at large as of this writing.
