BACOLOD CITY — Authorities are looking into a land dispute as a possible motive behind the killing of a 34-year-old farmer in Purok Sab-a, Barangay Montilla, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.
Police Maj. Ryan Villasario, chief of the Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station, said the victim was walking when he was waylaid by two unidentified individuals and shot.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the right arm and armpit and was declared dead at a hospital.
Villasario said investigators are also determining whether the suspects, who fled on foot, had other accomplices.
Police said the victim had allegedly received a threat last month in connection with a land conflict in the village.
