BACOLOD CITY — A 67-year-old farmer was allegedly hacked to death by his 41-year-old neighbor in Barangay San Rafael, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, on Thursday.
Police said the victim was sitting inside his house when the suspect entered and suddenly attacked him, striking his head, right chest, and both arms.
The suspect was reportedly intoxicated during the attack, according to authorities.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
In a radio interview, Police Maj. Jaynick Bermudez, chief of the Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station, said the suspect had been drinking heavily since his father’s death, which may have led to depression.
The suspect remained at the victim’s house until police arrived and arrested him.
Police said he continued to act violently while in custody.
When he later calmed down, the suspect claimed he did not know what he had done.
