Errol Spence Jr. dominates Danny Garcia to retain welterweight belts

Errol Spence answered today the question on many people’s minds: “Will Errol Spence Jr. remain in top form after a gruesome car crash accident that kept him from the sport for a year?”

The answer is an emphatic yes after putting on a clinic against challenger Danny Garcia in one of the most-anticipated welterweight clashes of the year to retain his IBF and WBC belts.

Spence Jr. looked like his old self and showed no signs of rust after connecting on several jabs early in the first round.

The unified welterweight champion continued to build his momentum by throwing punch after punch that overwhelmed his opponent through the course of the showdown.

Garcia tried and waited for things to open up but his strategy didn’t work against Spence Jr. who also displayed his brilliant defense to negate Garcia’s counter-punching.

Judges of the super-bout scored it 116-112, 116-112, and 117-111 all in the favor of Spence Jr. who is expected to finally square-off against Terence Crawford for welterweight supremacy.
