Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is set to make history as the first Filipino-produced documentary and the first Philippine film to screen at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), one of the world’s largest pop culture conventions.
The acclaimed music documentary will be showcased at Exhibit Hall 6BCF—an elite venue typically reserved for major entertainment franchises—during SDCC 2025, marking an unprecedented achievement for Philippine cinema.
The panel will feature director and producer Diane Ventura alongside Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia, whose journey with the band is at the heart of the film.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to represent our people and country on a more global platform,” said Ventura. “It’s long been my dream to spotlight the ingenuity of Filipino art, talent, and creativity and to be part of a movement that reframes the Filipino narrative.”
She added, “This is also my way of putting out a more nuanced and extensive depiction of our people while bringing to light the richness, humor, and depth of our stories.”
Upon its theatrical release earlier this year under Warner Bros. in the Philippines, Eraserheads: Combo On The Runearned critical acclaim and public praise, triggering multiple screening extensions across nearly 200 cinemas nationwide.

Billboard described it as “a moving documentary for the younglings discovering their music and longtime fans reconnecting with the songs that defined their generation,” while GMA News called it “a history lesson on an important chapter of Pinoy pop culture.”
To celebrate its SDCC debut, a special one-shot comic book titled Combo On The Run will be launched in collaboration with Kid Heroes Publications, Eraserheads, and DVent Pictures.
The comic reimagines the band’s semi-fictional journey through four interconnected stories that blend music, mythology, and superhero adventures—featuring record-breaking hits, heroic missions, and even zombie battles.
The anthology is illustrated by award-winning Filipino artists Raymund Lee, Felix Morales, and Ardie Aquino, and written by Patricio Ginelsa and Justin Quizon.
Two exclusive comic book covers will be released: one designed by Whilce Portacio—renowned for his work on Marvel’s X-Factor, Iron Man, and The Punisher—and the other by Stephen Segovia, known for his high-profile projects with DC Comics.
The Comic-Con edition and SuperManila Exclusive edition are now available for pre-order via the official Kid Heroes website.
The global screening of Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is scheduled for release in theaters worldwide in 2025, further extending the influence of the legendary Filipino band on the international stage.
