THE Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino will continue accepting applications until 15 February 2019 for the Pambansang Kampong Balagtas, which will be on 2-4 April 2019, at Orion Elementary School, Orion, Bataan.
The three-day conference is open for all young writers from grades 7-11. Their poems and essays in Filipino must be published in their official school papers from 20182019.
The chosen 150 participants will undergo a three-day conference on writing poems, essays, and short stories. There will also be a writing workshop to further hone their skills.
KWF will shoulder all expenses including transportation, food, and accommodation for the chosen participants and their advisers.
Kampong Balagtas is included in the celebration of National Literature Month this April. It is named after the great poet Balagtas, who was born on 2 April 1756, and one of the reasons for the declaration of National Literature Month.
Balagtas: Katutubong Manlilikha (Balagtas: Native Creator) is this years theme for Balagtas Day. Meanwhile, Buklugan Panitikan is this years theme for Literature Month.
