MIXED martial arts mainstay Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez looks to rebound from a disappointing ONE Championship debut by taking on Filipino fighter Eduard “Landslide” Folayang on “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” on August 2, 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Alvarez was knocked out by Timofey Nastyukhin in the first round of his first ONE Championship match recently.
Still, Alvarez said he is not discouraged by his loss.
“Look, I got the first one out of the way. I lost, no problem. I did the same thing in the UFC and I honestly almost did the same thing in my debut in Bellator,” said Alvarez.
“I got dropped terribly. My debut in Bellator against an Irish kid that no one knew. I got caught pretty clean,” Alvarez said in an interview.
His next opponent is Folayang, a wushu practitioner and a former two-time ONE Lightweight champion and a former Welterweight champion in Universal Reality Combat Championship.
Folayang was born in Baguio and carries the banner of Team Lakay Wushu, a martial arts group based in Baguio City.
