Dumalag opens drug reformation center

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Dumalag Municipal Police Station inaugurated the Balay Silangan Reformation Center on June 25 in Barangay Consolacion, Dumalag, Capiz.

The project was launched under the supervision of Police Maj. Amie Bulaquina, Dumalag police chief.

The event was attended by Dumalag Mayor Concepcion T. Castro; Ralph Rommel D. Torres, acting regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency; Lt. Col. Pedro Goldino Diocson, chief of the Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit of the Capiz Police Provincial Office; and representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Development, other partner agencies, barangay officials, and community stakeholders.

The program featured a ribbon-cutting and blessing, the unveiling of the Balay Silangan marker, the signing of the Manifesto of Commitment, and the signing of a memorandum of agreement.

The activities symbolized the collective commitment of partner agencies to support the rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration of former drug offenders into society.

Through its participation, the Dumalag Municipal Police Station reaffirmed its commitment to the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign by strengthening partnerships and promoting community-based initiatives that foster peace, public safety, and sustainable recovery.

Balay Silangan is a community-based reformation program of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for drug personalities who seek reintegration into their communities through intervention, livelihood, and education programs.

With the opening of Dumalag’s new reformation center, only Panay town and Roxas City have yet to establish drug reformation centers in Capiz.
